She has earned her reputation as the Queen of Facebook comedy in recent years, with her regular video postings on the site reflecting on her life but more recently Stephanie Aird has hit the road, as part of her third UK tour.
On Saturday night (2nd March) she performed to an almost sell-out audience at Newcastle’s Labour Club. Before the show started, Stephanie’s fan base was obvious. Front row of the show, were four of her ‘repeat offenders’ who told me they haven’t missed a tour.
The tour has been described as ‘rude, crude, and somewhat shocking,’ and it didn’t disappoint. If you’re looking for a comedy show where a comedian talks at you for two hours, this isn’t the show for you. If you’re looking for a show that gets you on your feet, and leaves your sides aching from laughter, then I suggest you get tickets quick.
Just like her videos, the show provided the audience an opportunity to see the world through the sensational eyes of Stephanie, as she demonstrated her skills of singing theme tunes to soap operas, and the development of her Spanish skills. The sensational segments reinforced that this lady is no one-trick pony.
Few comedians that I have seen manage to engage with an audience like Stephanie. As we entered the second half of her performance, few members of the audience were still sitting, as the majority of them were on their feet, dancing away to Stephanie perform songs by the likes of Beyoncé, Amy Winehouse, and Lady Gaga.
From Victor, her ventriloquist monkey, to her pantomime horse, there was not a moment of the show that the audience was not engaged on her every word, but for those whose attention may have been lagging, Stephanie managed to get all eyes on her with her performance of Miley Cyrus’ Wrecking Ball, and her mind-blowing tribute to Blondie.
This is not just a comedy show, it’s a night of 5 star entertainment, not to be missed!
