Coronation Street star Dolly-Rose Campbell has come out as bisexual ahead of her role in this year’s Manchester Pride celebrations.
Dolly-Rose, who appears on the popular soap-opera as the much-loved Gemma Winter, has opened up about her sexuality in a new advert for the annual celebration.
“The love and acceptance shown by the people of Manchester allowed me to accept my bisexuality and be proud of who I am.”
Paying tribute to the organisation, she added: “The work that Manchester Pride does throughout the year to engage with and create opportunities for people in Manchester’s LGBTQ+ community and beyond makes a huge difference to so many people’s lives.”
Dolly-Rose is an ambassador for Manchester Pride, and you can hear her on a promo video which includes highlights from last year’s event and a look at Mayfield Depot, which will host the music programme in 2019.
She performs a poem called ‘Mine is the Pride’ to accompany the clip.
“It was an honour to do the voiceover for this video,” she told the Manchester Evening News. “Manchester Pride is one of my favourite times of the year in Manchester.
“It is a time when everyone comes together to show that love and kindness will always triumph over hate and prejudice.”
