Editors’ Letter: February

Welcome to February. You’ve managed to survive a month that has seemed never-ending; January.

We’re now passed the first week of the month, our first full month of publishing, having launched at the end of January.

This month will see Queer News grow with the addition of new contributors to the team, and two new features including Behind the Scenes, which looks to put the spotlight on individuals that make a difference to our community, along with Eurovisual, a look at the greatest show on planet earth; Eurovision.

February also marks an important month for our community; LGBTQ History Month. This is a time to reflect on our own histories and the individuals who allowed us to be who we are, today. If you’re aware of any stories or events you think we should feature, get in touch

We’re also continuing our feature coverage of ‘Being LGBTQ.’ A brand new Podcast for the LGBTQ community. I joined the Podcast in Episode 2 to discuss the creation of Queer News and our importance, at a time when journalism standards across the board are lowering.

You can check out Being LGBTQ on our site now.

This month, we’ve also featured information that Morrisons, the popular supermarket chain in the UK, is supporting the Albert Kennedy Trust, a youth homeless charity which does such fantastic work, with their Valentine’s Day initiative.

We’re always on the lookout for new contributors to join our team. From entertainment, to sport and from current affairs to politics; whatever your passion may be, you can put your opinion to good use on the Queer News site.

If you’d like to discuss getting involved as a contributor, you can get in touch with me via Editor@queernews.co.uk.

To all of our subscribers that have joined us in the UK since launching, as well our American and Canadian audience, users in Africa, Asia and as far as Australia and New Zealand, welcome to Queer News.
