North East Awards Recognising Positive LGBTQ Contributions Returning in 2020

An awards campaign that recognises the positive contributions made to the LGBTQ community in the North East is set to return in 2020.

The annual LGBTQ North East Awards will return in May 2020, for the third celebration in the region.

The awards, which were launched by Rainbow Foundation, a registered charity in the region supporting the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, trans and queer (LGBTQ) community, in 2017, will take place on Friday 15th May next year.

Chair of Rainbow Foundation, Ash Johns, said “The awards are a fantastic project to be involved in for our organisation. Over the last two years, they’ve grown in size, and we’re very excited to be bringing them back in 2020 at a brand new venue, as well as extending the categories, to allow even further contributions to be recognised.”

Each year, the awards recognise the contributions of individuals, businesses and community groups to the LGBTQ community in the region. Sage Gateshead will play host to the event in May for the first time.

Nominations for the awards will open on February 1st, and will be accepted for categories including; Inclusive Workplace, Charity & Community Initiative, Inclusive Arts & Media, Volunteer of the Year and Ally of the Year.

More information can be found via the Rainbow Foundation website.

Queer News is proud to support the event as News Parter for the 2020 event.
