EuroDrag Takes Over the UK

A drag competition with a difference has been sashaying its way across the UK this Summer.

EuroDrag, the birth child of international Drag sensation Linda Gold, was created as a small contest to celebrate dra as an art form. The competition has exploded in popularity and will be held in 22 venues across 9 different countries.

The contest aims to incorporate all forms of drag, unlike other popular drag competitions such as Drag Race, or Drag Idol, where a panel of judges decides who wins.

“The most exciting thing about EuroDrag is the winner is decided by the people, and not judging panels,” something that isn’t the norm, explains the competition founder Linda.

“We’re the only drag contest that is open to everyone; Drag Queens, Drag Kings, Trans people, Cis male and females. As long as our entrants offer something diverse, and support the LGBTQ+ community, they are welcome to compete.”

Winners from each local venue heat, will go through to the local final, with the overall winner receiving a cash price, a hosting gig, and a paid position on the judging panel for the next season of the EuroDrag competition.

Discussing the reaction received so far, Linda explained that entry to the competition has been as diverse as expected, “The standard of entry to the competition has been hugely diverse, we have cis females, and heterosexual men in the contest, and it highlights the interest there is in what we’re providing.”

Anyone wishing to take part in the contest can do so by emailing

The overall winner of the UK heats will be invited to travel to Sweden for the grand final, taking place in 2020, and will perform in an effort to be crowned the winner of The EuroDrag Contest 2020.
