Couple getting married at Leeds Pride this weekend

Until recently, Ben Bagshaw and Ryan Clay were not planning to get married, but this weekend they will be tying the knot at an unconventional wedding venue.

The couple won a unique competition and their prize is an all-expenses paid wedding, that will be conducted by TV presenter Anna Richardson, at Victoria Leeds, later today.

After a 13-year engagement they will get married in the Victoria Leeds shopping centre in front of friends and family. All while thousands of people are in Lower a Briggate celebrating Leeds Pride.

Speaking to LeedsLive, Ben said: “We’ve been together 14 years and engaged 13 years. All of our friends have got married or engaged in that time and recently Ben’s best friend got married.

“That made us think about getting married and this competition popped up on my Facebook, so I thought I’d enter and see what happens.

“I then got a phone call a few days later. It was a bit of a surprise.

“It’s definitely been a bit of a whirlwind, but we’ve had a good team to help us sort it out and get it all together in two weeks.”
